Help Us Grow & Make More Impact!
Giving out free tech devices is an important form of charitable work that can help to bridge the digital divide and improve access to technology for those in need while reducing electronic waste in the landfills. This type of work often involves partnering with organizations or initiatives that focus on increasing digital literacy and promoting equitable access to technology. You can become a volunteer who can play a critical role in this process by:
-
Simply spreading the words about TechCycle, whether asking others to donate or pointing those in need to TechCycle. Promote TechCycle through your network such as friends, family, social media, your company, etc.
-
Becoming a TechCycle lead in your local community. As a lead, you can replicate exactly what we're doing but at your local community level. We can help you get started based on our past experiences.
-
Collecting devices from donations. For example, if you have a business or know someone who has a business, become a TechCycle drop-off location for donations. If you don't have a business, collect devices from your network such as friends, family, social media, your company, etc.
-
Refurbishing devices for TechCycle's growing inventory of donated devices. If you know how to fix tech devices (laptops, tablets, phones, etc.), we could need some help. Common tasks involve upgrading system parts and installing appropriate operating systems and applications.
-
Offering support and guidance to those in need. For example, how to use these tech devices effectively, including providing training on hardware and software applications that can enhance learning, communication, and productivity for those in need.
-
Taking on some internal TechCycle roles and functions that keep TechCycle afloat and growing, such as project management, event organizations, brainstorming, web site development, UI/UX design (for flyers, banners, etc.), social media management (Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook),
